So, an auction house bloke goes through the robbery drill and gets knocked senseless by a robber. The robber gets the portfolio home and discovers the Goya is missing from the frame. Looks like a bad time ahead for the auction house dude because he can't remember due to the head trauma. Time for a hypnotherapist to pull the location of the missing masterpiece. Thus entails a very stylistic, inventive storyline involving James McAvoy, Rosario Dawson, and Vincent Cassel who all do superb jobs in this head-twisting tale of love, crime, and love.
McAvoy does his "deer in headlights" best while Cassel is superb as the cool criminal who wants his painting. Dawson is good as the therapist and still looks pretty good full frontal. These three go round and round trying to find out where the painting is while doing their best to keep their stories straight.
Great art direction and soundtrack. I don't think Boyle knows how to make a bad film.
