I like this stuff, even when it's not great, so I can't really critique or judge this Marvel Comic movie for you. It wasn't meant to be understood beyond the good versus evil themes. But it had some comic moments juxtaposing the superhero stuff against relationship gafs, just to bring the characters back down a bit. Again, Todd Hiddleston as Loki stands way out. The guy is a terrific actor.
What I want to call out here is the credits. A movie like this must cost a Godzillion bucks to make. The computer graphics teams names scrolled past for a long time, with hundreds of names and dozens of companies. It was unbelievable, the armies of folks working on the graphic effects for this flick.
Its kind of comforting in a way, in times of quirky economics, to see so many people chipping in on just one movie. The previews tonight show that several more of these CG blockbusters are coming our way this year. Good news in several ways if you like these kinds of movies. Fewer ways if you don't.
When this one hits the dvd circuit, check it out, and by all means watch the end credits. Amazing. (And there is more footage post-credits. Is that a spoiler?)
