First I thought it was just Pixar, which is usually a few cuts above other animated movies, but then I started enjoying other kids' movies. My daughter likes Winnie the Pooh and Monsters Inc. I try to discourage her from watching movies but sometimes I allow it. She enjoys playing with legos and I read good things about The Lego Movie. I ended up watching it without her and it resonated pretty strongly with me, and had a great message about believing in yourself and following your dreams, creativity and inspiration. My daughter is definitely too young for it, but I found the humor, animation and plot to all be wholesome and hugely entertaining. SPOILER - it ended up being about a father who had forbid his son from playing with the lego worlds. Of course the son couldn't help but rearrange the worlds using his imagination. It just brought home the message that much more.
