Actually the money had nothing to do with it. It's always been dirt cheap to me.

The problem I had with them was that ... IMHO ... they were more interested in the streaming side of the business than the DVD side.

Initially I joined Netflix (in the early years) because they had DVDs
available that I could not find at my local Hollywood Video or Blockbuster.

Always had a fear that once Netflix killed off the video stores they would revert to the same ... "cater to the masses" attitude ... that was typical of most video stores. I've always assumed that they would stream what is popular ... new releases ... movies catering to younger tastes ... etc. It's the most economically sensible business model. But it's not one that I am interested in.

Anyway when I left Netflix ... I joined Blockbuster online ... was good for while but then the waiting lists and mail time got longer and longer ... so I quit them too.

By that time both Hollywood & Blockbuster Video stores had closed in my Town.

Now I just get movies from the Library (online ordering transferred from any Library in my state) or from a local Drug Store that still rents new releases for couple of dollars.

As far a streaming ... I am a Hulu Plus subscriber ... initially joined to gain access to the Criterion Collection but I also watch a lot of TV series ... was not planing that but that's how it's worked out.
