...watched two videos this weekend on Comcast On Demand."Babadook" is a new Australian horror film which Rolling Stone gave 3 stars and others have compared to "Let the Right One In", my favorite vampire movie.
I thought the film sucked and was a big waste of time. What are these reviewers thinking?
Maybe I missed the subtleties, but it's mostly a mother becoming more disturbed and her disturbed son emoting and making faces to the camera throughout, as an entity released from a spooky book knocks on the door and terrorizes them.
Then there is the film "Drive" from 2011 with Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan. It's about a film stunt driver who is a hold-up getaway driver specialist in his spare time.
This one is brilliant - kind of an impressionist film, with little dialogue, somewhat like Miami Vice in slow motion in parts with bright colors and action to a stylized techno soundtrack.
