These are the problems:

One dimensional characters (The Thing remake had same problem)
Clunky dialog with no humour or sense of camaraderie
Too many characters trying to do too much at once
Ridiculous plot (c'mon, running around 30 sec after surgery?)
No escalation of tension
Wooden acting (a problem with most CGI movies)
No sense of purpose or drive (compared to other Alien movies)

This movie felt like it came out of the same CGI-mill as all the other CGI movies of late. Disappointing.
