I've got this on Blu-Ray.

The direction and acting are all first-class (only one of the actors - the guy who plays Bunting - is a professional).

The problem is the narrative. A lot of people with various motivations doing a lot of nasty things to a lot of other people over a long period of time makes for a confusing movie. I got the impression that a lot more footage was shot, but that they edited it down to its current length. That means there are some disjointed jumps between events which are not explained (if you are familiar with the Snowtown murders you can figure out what's happening, but newbies will be confused).

You could also argue that the motivations of the lead bad guy (Bunting) are not explored. Nor is there any moral stance, but in my book that is not a bad thing. Hollywood could not have made a movie like this.

By the way, here in Oz this movie was simply called "Snowtown". It doesn't need the word "Murders" in the title because Snowtown is synonymous with murders in this country.
