is to view it as a comment on the "end of history", as Francis Fukuyama coined it. Seinfeld existed in that period after the fall of communism, but before the war on terror. There was no conflict in the world, therefore no-one needed or had any strong belief systems. Seinfeld brilliantly tapped into that zeitgeist and turned it into comedy.
The best episodes are around seasons three to five, where Larry David was at his best. Larry Charles also wrote a lot of darker episodes around that time.
