But it is still pretty shocking seeing a bunch of gentle animals like kangaroos being massacred in such a gruesome way. However, on balance, those scenes are consistent with the tone of the movie. They just add to the surreal and dark nature of the story.
Believe it or not the movie is still to this day an accurate reflection of how some people live in the northern parts of Australia (the parts that are so hot they make you "go troppo").
