"The Past" should have shared it.
From Romania, "Child's Pose" is the story of an upper-class mother's careful and relentless attempts to keep her son from being convicted of a serious crime. Luminita Gheorghiu, as the mother, gives an incredible performance, completely free of any gratuitous scenery chewing, mannerisms, a la Streep. She is as great an actress as graces film.
A man returns, after several years in his home country, to find that his French wife has become entangled in a serious relationship with another man. This Iranian film is by the same director as the very fine, "A Separation" and every bit as good. Two fine films with quality matched by very few directors working today.
If intense drama, deep character development, and original and creative writing sound interesting, both are HIGHLY recommended.
