You might be interested to know that 11 years prior to that the Russians made their own version - it is called Ukroshcheniye Ognia:

Sure enough, there is plenty of propaganda, and some distortions, but it is still an interesting film to watch.

Now... I don't know how easy is it to get it with subs... so don't blame me if your Russian is not on par. :)
