Altho I would call them continuing dramas moreso than miniseries. We loved the first 4 or so seasons of Dexter. Repetitive would have been preferable to what the last 2-3 seasons devolved into. As for continuing dramas the list, in this current golden age if tele, is near unending, here's a few of my other favs:

Fargo (a 1 season series)
The Wire
Breaking Bad
The Killing (ignore the fanboi outcry over the Season 1 non ending, it was worth the wait, vis a vis, Season 2, Season 3 was excellent as well)
The Bridge
The Shield
Homeland (1st two seasons)
The Sopranos
Game of Thrones (it gets better each season)
Boredwalk Empire
First two seasons of True Blood
Treme(!!!)
John Adams (a true miniseries)
Generation Kill, ditto
Band of Bros
The Tudors(!!!, great, even with a milquetoast performance from the lead)
Sleeper Cell (mini series)
Bates Motel, with Vera Farmiga lighting up every scene she's in what's not to like
The Americans
