Well, this is one of the most bizarre movies I've seen in a long time.

As the title suggests, it's about a computer chess tournament. What makes it interesting is that it was shot on old Sony analog video cameras from the 1970s. The result is seriously weird and trippy.

It's difficult to describe the actual story, but here goes. It's 1980, and a bunch of socially-backward computer nerds descend on a hotel for the annual computer chess tournament. They hope to prove that computers can beat humans at chess. Different teams from different universities pit their computers against each other for the main prize. Then the winner plays a human chess master. The hotel is also hosting a new age hippy workshop for swingers, which causes some interesting moments. It's shot documentary style, so you also get the perspective of the film crew. It starts off like a documentary, but then becomes surreal and Lynchian.

There's definitely a stoner element to this movie. In fact, there is an optional commentary delivered by a real stoner. If you appreciate mumblecore comedy and computers then give this movie a shot.
