Re: Saw "Moulin Rouge" on the big screen at home last night

I thought the movie was a mishmash of stolen cliches. It was a treat for the eyes and the music was generally well done BUT it took me a week to be able to sit through the whole thing. The whole thing reminded me of a hybrid of "Cabaret" and a Batman flick (take your pick, they're all bad).

For me, the movie is a big steaming heap. If you dig it, more power to you. To quote that great philosopher Sly Stone, "Different strokes for different folks."

I guess the movie was meant to be clever but I just felt assaulted.

Too bad some of the tons of money they put into the movie wasn't spent on a good script. The script of Moulin Rouge was as bad as that for Pearl Harbor! And I thought that had set a new standard for lousy.

Kidman isn't much as a musical performer but she is so beautiful I almost don't care. Notice I said "almost."

Cast my vote for Moulin Rouge being the WORST of 2001.
