Re: "Almost Famous" on HBO the other night...

Me, too. I think this easily the best film of that year (and yes, I saw practically everything that year). It just doesn't get old for me. I've seen the original and the director's cut many times now and just love it every time. YMMV, as usual!

If you're a fan, run, don't walk, and get the director's cut DVD. The extra footage adds an extra dimension to the characters' relationships but IMO doesn't take anything away from the film. The original cut is also in the package, so feel free to sell off the previous release, or better yet, give it to someone who hasn't seen the film yet.

Oh, I'm 34, and was never into 70s music, having grown up with U2, the Cure, Smiths, Echo, etc. And yet I still love this film, so it's not because of the nostalgia.
