Remember that The Manchurian Candidate was made several years before the Disney films Lansbury was in. In TMC she was evil, personified. She played a lot of bad girls early in her career, notably in DeMille's SAMSON AND DELILAH.I agree that TMC is a great film. I saw it when it was first released (I was 10) and then again after its rerelease. I think it is also Sinatra's and Lawrence Harvey's best film - and both had several notable film roles during their careers. It was also a high point for James Gregory, the great character actor who played the senator. It's an intelligent and well written little gem.
