Happened in Canada - free medical. They likely had to pay a nominal fee from their country for travel Insurance.
If I go to the States I pay about $20 for a week or so and would cover me up to to $8,000,000 US - the Canadian Government foots the bill. I figure if you need more than $8,000,000 you're probably in dire circumstances.
Further, citizen from outside Canada who visit Canada can pay about $300 Canadian for 1 month of medical insurance. I would look more into this and try to determine if you have to be a Canadian citizen because if you don't then you could buy several months of insurance and then get the medical covered for rather major operations that would leave Americans bankrupt.
I suspect I have missed something because someone would have already figured it out. The drugs are vastly cheaper in Canada - and here's the thing - they are the identical drugs sold in the US. Canada bulk buys the drugs at a cut rate and doesn't profit on it (well not much) when selling to the citizens. The political parties in the US try to claim it's not AMA or FDA or whatever approved - BS nonsense - exact same drug. So even if you can't get the medical in the states have a friend ship you the drugs at least.
