We had mentioned this one years ago, 'East-West', with Bonnaire, Deneuve, and Menshikov, which gave a very harrowing looking into post-war Stalinist Russia. Some critics said it should have gotten the Oscar that year ('99). Stalin threw open his arms for all ex-pats to come home to help build a new Russia and once off the boat it was death or prison. I enjoyed it immensely and was shocked at how people where turned into snitching rats for the smallest perk to make life easier. A must see.
