This is another high quality, well done Brit production done for those who have read the novel or those who want classic romance.Mulligan (who is still eternally cute--the new Emma Watson) inherits an uncle's large farm/estate and dares to take over the COO position rather than hire a "man" to do it for her. (Feminazi?) She's bucking the well established ways of doing things much to the dissatisfaction of the gentlemen farmers around her. During her story she encounter three men with whom she has romances. Schoenaerts (persistant SS looks) is the first. A man's man neighbor with a sheep dog who has a very different idea of herding. Sheen who is a very wealthy, gentrified Brit girly-man and Troy, the gallant soldier who literally sweeps her of her feet.
Having not read the novel I found it well done and an almost expository fashion. The characters were well drawn and the actors well directed. And, you can never quibble with the quality of film from British Lit. Never.
I enjoyed this lush film and story and noticed it almost went too long but I suppose the novel did the same.
Another fine "date night" movie that won't offend any female sensibilities. Recommended.
