First, I have not read the books, so each episode is an adventure...and this has been hard to watch...even when they flinch the camera and don't show you everything...
Only 6 characters bought it last night...this series has more storylines, characters and the highest production value of anything I have ever seen produced for television...
As a fan, we expect a couple of characters not to make into the next season...Martian will take a meat cleaver to ANY characters arc...then say now deal with it...
Many are sick of the shock and awe plot themes...I am personally still disseminating the whole thing...I really don't know how I feel about it all...density of story and scope with this MANY players, it is somewhat overwhelming...
Cersei Lannister naked walk of shame last night, that lasted soooo long, it made me, actually physically squirm in my chair...that was ruff...(fyi, she used a body double, but a nice one), don't worry ladies there is also some full frontal male nudity on the same walk...female fans have been complaining...
Jamie Lannister and his surprising normal daughter, born out of incest with his sister Cersei...uhg...did not make back to Kings Landing due to a murderous former future mother in-law...just typing that sounds crazy...This will just add to next seasons Cersei's revenge on EVERYONE...
Ari Stark goes full blown John Wick with an oyster knife on a pedophile, who was on her "list" to kill...she cackles and enjoys this waaaay too much...really scary and violent...when she gets back to Room of Faces in The House of Black and White...it gets funky...she does end up blind, but she is still my odds on favor to end up on the Iron Throne...with Daenery a close second, but for this author, she seems to be too much of the obvious choice...
Stannis Baratheon balls were bigger than his brain...met his end attacking Winterfell...no surprise here...but keeper of the Stark's honor... Brienne of Tarth, as close to the Valkyrie as you will see for female woman warrior...avenges Ned Stark with one swing of Jamie Lannisters sword...thank you good night
Sansa Stark and her eunuch cousin Reek try to leave Winterfell and escape the completely twisted Ramsay Bolton...they jump off the castle to no resolution...we do not know if they are alive or dead...my guess is alive and they are not included in the 6 character body count...
Daenerys Targaryen made the greatest exit in TV history last week, when she climbed on Drogon, one of her dragons, and flew to safety...I have been waiting for that moment when she would finally ride a dragon...BUT she now finds herself in the middle of nowhere surrounded by the Dothraki, whom her dead husband was the leader of and Fathered the dragons, I think...with her dragon, Drogon too tired to fight and wounded...she wonders off when she gets surrounded by the Dothraki, whom she took the dragons away from...I believe Drogon will wake up and come to her rescue, that will make the Dothraki her allies...did you get all that???
This brings us finally to Jon Snow...noble and wise, with a big picture perspective that no one at Castle Black remotely understands...his mercy and semi-loyalty to the Wildings has ultimately become his bane...this is what happens when men take vows of celibacy...the ol'Knights Watch gets a little testy...this brings us to our Julius Caesar moment...et tou Brute...literally...they lure him to coming running when they tell him, his Uncle is still alive...then line up to take turns stabbing him...all saying..."For the Watch" just prior to stabbing him...all the way down to Brutus, aka young Olly, whom he saved, but the Wildings killed his parents...this was the final blow...how is that for dramatic??!!??
BUT
Good thing Melisandre is around, those Red Clerics know how to resurrect the dead. She wanders back into Castle Black from Winterfell after Stannis Baratheon got his butt kicked...convincing Stannis would win if he sacrificed his daughter who had royal blood...so she is 0-1 in predictions...we will see if Jon Snow is going to be brought back to life...but the show runners are saying dead is dead for Jon Snow...this could go either way...
I know this all sounds like complete gibberish...some really crazy crap going on here...but there is hangs...
This type of genre is typically not my cup of tea...I am not a medieval fantasy kind of dude...did not care for LoTR, visually stunning just did not care about the characters and the story telling...
GOT did get under my skin...this is a circuit board of plot lines, stories, landscapes and most of all very well defined characters...well cast and acted overall...
I have left out or missed allot...like to see what others thought about this wicked ride...
thanks
Mark
