Just saw this and it was excellent, as I've come to expect from Asif Kapadia (Senna). Like Senna, the film is composed entirely from footage and its amazing how much footage there is from before she ever recorded.

I have to admit to not paying much attention to Amy Winehouse when she was popular because the media bombarded us with nothing but her troubles. Sad. Man, she could sing.

I had no idea I would like her music this much ...and she seemed like regular people, until she got too famous, couldn't handle it and turned to drugs and alcohol.

Manhola Dargis of the New York Times does a far better job reviewing "Amy" than I ever could and it was this review (link below) that got me to see it.

If you are the least bit curious, I highly recommend you see "Amy".
