'Krampus': Don't let your holiday styke get cramped with this one . . .

Well, it didn't stink on ice and it was the opposite of most of the holiday movies to date so it might be worth it...50/50.

Imagine one of the more dysfunctional middle class families coming together for another miserable Christmas. Everyone knows how it is going to turn out before company even arrives. Arrive they do with their familiar television faces, bad attitudes, sometimes clever dialog. This thing is second cousins to "Christmas Vacation" less the Griswalds and plus the Borgias.

Toni Collette does her best to put on a holiday face despite her companies disregard for anyone. Adam Scott's German speaking Grans seems ill at ease and advises they should keep the fire hot. Two of the fat, obnoxious kids steal Colette's son's Santa letter and embarrass him at the dinner table. He runs up stairs, rending the letter, and tosses it out his window where it mysteriously spirals into the gathering winter clouds. Uh-oh, the doody is about to hit the fan.

First come the little critters, then the elves, then Krampus himself looking to steal and take from the ungrateful everything--even lives. The movie then descends into a fast sequence of pretty good effects and has you guessing about who is where and are they alive.

They do their best to survive and finally come to the end of their ordeal...or do they?

Good all around performances and script but to the "seasoned" movie-goer this seems a bit worn out. If you go, you go to see how they made this different not how different it is.

It's a 50/50. You won't see it a second time.
