Why wasn't I warned? I walked into the early matinee and I was the only schlong in the joint. I didn't know this was the premiere chick flick of the year.
This is the loosely based story of Joy Mangano who began a business based on her pet invention of a self-wringing mop. She struggles against her family and other businesses to finally make it to the top. Through gutsy calls and ultimate persistence she finally makes it big.
It has an all star cast do the right things and I found Isabella Rosselini and DeNiro's characters quite interesting. Bradley was in it and thankfully he was not a romantic interest. (Enough already.) It seem that JLaw was a tad off her game and she looked unhealthy. Direction? This film doesn't lack for anything production wise but does appear to be shot on a very profitable budget.
I can see this being a "go see" for young ladies to understand that "the world doesn't owe you a thing" and that persistence is the greatest part of success.
Unfortunately, it's not for everyone--only for me because movies are my thing.
Go see 'The Big Short' a second time and see how real success in America works.
