Pacino and Hopkins face off as the top NOLA lawyer versus the billionaire pharmaceutical mogul. They provide a compelling centerpiece in a film about a young lawyer (Duhamel)trying to claw his way into a partnership in Pacino's firm. Duhamel runs into an old flame who is the current squeeze of the geriatric Hopkins and who possesses secret info about a drug trial that kills 200+ patients.
Duhamel sells his idea to Pacino who does a fine job as a laid back, stereotypical Southerner. Hopkins is strong as the billionaire and, in this case, compelling with his craft. Duhamel was suffocating in a troubled marriage to a de-glamorized Alice Eve while being tempted by his old flame, Maliin Akerman. The case looks good for Duhamel until outside threats and murder occur. Suddenly, attacking a billionaire doesn't look to be so easy.
This is the first time Pacino and Hopkins have shared the screen and it is an interesting meeting. It doesn't have quite the sizzle of DeNiro and Pacino in 'Heat' but it is interesting just the same.
Visit the local Red Box as it is probably there now.
