Playing two "loser" cops that work in property and evidence they discover a bail slip made out for $200,000 CASH. Cage is convinced there is more where that came from so he and the reluctant Wood start seeking out the full story of this hoping it leads to a big score of drugs or money.
This is filmed in the off streets of Las Vegas and its inherent seediness. The cinematography shows the glitz from a distance while grounding the action on the mean streets. Cage does an excellent job of a cop with a screw loose who gives both dramatic and comedic lines while Wood is actually somewhat of a straight man through the proceedings.
There are some interesting twists and turns in the story. This was written and directed by two young brothers (Alex and Ben Brewer) who seem to have a big career in the offing.
I enjoyed this but the film ultimately fails to check off a lot of the standard "big feature" boxes. It has gotten middling scores and is currently out on Cage's favorite medium: Redbox.
