makes the ordinary and mundane sparkle with new vigor and mirth. He only truly satisfies about every other film and this one is a good one. A solid triple--not quite over the fence. His script, direction, casting, and attention to detail make this film sparkle.
Eisenberg(Bobby) is typecast as a young Jewish man looking to find himself and a new career by traveling to Hollywood to impose on his uncle (Carell) who is a top talent agent in mid-30's Hollywood. Uncle Phil gives him a job that inadvertently leads to a heartbreak and a return to NYC. Once back Bobby teams with his brother Ben (Stoll) to start a night club to great success. Bobby marries and seemingly lives happily ever after until Uncle Phil and Vonnie (the heartbreak) appear in the club.
Allen's shtick doesn't overwhelm the story but does provide a lot of laughs. Great cast and great production--worth a go.
