Here are two I missed from this century that are pretty decent. First is Music Within based on the real life story of Viet Nam vet Ron Pimintel. He came back from Viet Nam with a big hearing loss, was able to overcome it then started a firm to place DAV's and eventually helped write the ADA.
Songcatcher is the other and it is about a woman at the turn of the 20th century with a doctorate in music teaching at a college. Facing the glass ceiling an unable to gain professorship she instead heads to Appalachia to document the music on both paper and with an Edison cylinder recorder/player. The music and setting seem quite authentic. The music is well done too. Its also the first on screen appearance of Emmy Rossum best known for her role in the US version of Shameless.
Both were free on demand via Comcast.
