As the sequel to Prometheus I would have hoped that 'Covenant' starts where Prometheus left off. Shaw, with android David, take off from that planet in the remaining 'engineer' space craft to confront the "Engineers". (Those who designed the "Aliens" to be the anti-personnel weapon that they are.) You know, ask the big questions like "and you altered us too, didn't you! ....and 'what was our purpose in your overall scheme?!!'But that trailer makes it look more like just a continuation of the Alien horror story franchise where horror is 70% and sci-fi is 30%. I hope I'm wrong on this.
Fwiw, I thought Alien Resurrection was an interesting follow-up to Alien III. Genetic engineering on the part of 'corporate' humananity. The predictable idea, to turn the Aliens into a weapon working for the largest corporation. Elen Ripley reincarnated as a genetically engineered hybrid human/alien. And in that movie the captive alien monsters dearly loved hybrid Ripley. And then Ripley gets loose and travels back to Earth. That could be a whole new movie episode; hybrid Ripley on Earth. What does she do then?
The whole idea of a society where corporations are as governments unto themselves. It fits into a popular sci-fi myth that may be closer to real than we would like.
