Ever since the advent of sci-fi the writers tried to outsmart each other in their descriptions of aliens.
The most obvious once included all sorts of human-like figures, with huge eyes, no ears, heads, mounted sideways... but still largely human figures.
Others went their totally outside of the box routine, with forms of life... or should we say - intelligence - in a shape of a swarm of little flies, a cross-like creatures and even an ocean.
Hollywood, being forever stupid, stuck with its only plausible form - flesh eating monsters. Good enough for rednecks.
All that represented the search for something new, interesting... something that would spur your imagination.
Until now we finally have two tree stumps, two handicapped octopuses with one tentacle missing, but with the ink bladder still intact.
