I understand your remark about the shooting was a causal comment, and not to be made much of , but I must comment on the remark.Violent murder doesn't "fit" into my world, and I find the issue important enough to resist mass shooting as normal, things that just happen without any possible remedy .
That is pretty much my only objection to your statements.
The original poster might have not gotten the original impact of the movie when he changed formats. I remember the movie was very dark, intentionally made that way as a mood piece, and stuff shot for home viewing would use different lighting to create the same needed effects, because dark is tough on home video. I don't remember much else about the movie, besides the joker, (ledger) running around the place.
