Collette and Wolff gave super strong performances. I wonder where Collette pulled those demonic looks of anger from? You just don't see a face contort like that. Byrne's overall demeanor and rationality just didn't seem possible in such a situation. I presume he was caught into being the family anchor. Admittedly, as the film got to the 3/4's point the plot began to soften up but not enough to throw the film away.
