Change of pace pitch. We open with the classic McCall destroying people as if he was Mars himself. Good action. Then we see more bad things happen to people we don't know that must be avenged. People McCall worked with are being offed in the name of tying up loose ends.
This time we see a more action oriented Denzel. We learned about all his OCD behavior and rituals combined with the close interactions of Moretz and her plight against Rooshan pimpsters the first time around. This time McCall takes a local black youth under his wing trying to save him from "the corner". It is a nice human interest subplot that soon sweeps the kid into McCalls own fight against being "loose-ended" himself.
The film opens with a nice international flavor beginning in Brussels. Leo and Denzel hop across to see if they recognize any recognizable killer trademarks. Coming home, more things happen and a lot of action ensues. I think half the fans will like the first better whereas I prefer Dos.
3.5 wonks for cinematography, characters, and action
1 wank for cramming in unrelated action to show us how bad McCall is.
PS. Orson Bean is a billion yeas old and Bill Pullman does pull-man duty as always.
