SO true about Kubrick! I finally got around to watching Barry Lyndon the other day.....

all I could think of while I watched the beautifully photographed drama unfold was Kubrick really did cast the wrong guy for the lead in this epic! According to IMDB, he originally wanted Redford but he turned it down... Though I am not a huge fan of Redford he IS a more talented actor than Ryan O'Neal... I'm sure Kubrick was ultimately disappointed with Eyes Wide Shut AND Cruise AND Kidman it is without a doubt all three of their worst films....
