re: Bardem.....I thought "No country for Old Men" was a sort of break-out movie for him. At least in North America. After that he started getting Hollywood A-list movie roles. And he continues to appear regularly in new movies.....but some of them are made in Europe and in his native country, Spain.

I thought he rendered a very colorful Mexican drug runner in "The Counselor". But I disliked his Bond bad guy character in "Skyfall".

I'll probably wait for "The Gunman" to hit cable. Not because Bardem is in it. .....Sean Penn...... I've never been a fan of his work. Although that work of his that I have seen (not many) does seem rather dry. I'm not sure why Hollywood continues to give work to this actor. He lacks those qualities that cause a viewer to root for his character. A little too dry. Not particularly likeable.

And after his appearance at the Oscars this year, I am less likely to go out of my way to see any of his films.
