The cast is secondary and not as interesting.
Tho original is the best because of the sense of wonder of seeing the dinosaurs for the first time and some scenes that stick with you - the car being crushed, the kids hiding in the kitchen, for example.
This one doesn't hold up but is the best sequel.

And the story has been said to be a parable about hollywood movies - the customers want bigger and more exiting effects at the expense of the quality.
Going to see it tomorrow in 3D.
