Five episodes in we're hooked enough on this Amazon Production taken from the PKD novel.
Been close to 35 years since I read it (and it never was one of my favorite PKDs)
but an interesting premise of The Axis Powers (minus Italy - whatever did happen to them in this
scenario?) having won WWII and dividing up the former USA into three territories; Japanese Pacific
States in the West, the Greater Nazi Reich in the East and some Neutral Territory in between.
Resistance by the occupants and tensions/intrigue between the Great Powers that Rule.
Those brilliant Nazi designs shine wherever portrayed here. They were fooked up nuts,
but the basterds sure set some standards for design!
A little slow starting, but builds gradually to a decent pace and level of captivation.
Lots of great actors in interesting roles on all fronts, fantastic set designs (in an a golden age
era of such) and enough "suspense" to want to view at least two episodes in a row.
I'd forgotten how PKD could utilize the human condition and mindfooking so well in
his speculative fiction ways. The producers seem to have stayed true to this and presented
his story with little of the typical SCI FI bombardments associated with most of his
film adaptations.
Worth watching.
