Just what you expected from the trailers materializes on screen. Nearly non-stop action and mayhem with slowed-down moments interjected. Ryan Reynolds seemed to be born to be a smart ass and this is a life's dream come true in that regard. I can't even remember if he had any straight lines unless it was with Morena Baccarin. Baccarin, as shown in this flighty film, is a truly, truly beautiful woman--and that is with her clothes on!
The plot is straightforward: terminal diagnosis, stranger offers a cure AND super powers, hero goes through torturous trials to bring out his powers, bad guy steels sweetheart, and all must be resolved. And, with much violence and slo-mo acts of destruction our hero prevails.
The film has a some interesting ensemble characters which we will most likely see again.
Being R Rated slightly skews the audience age and may have actually helped it be more cellphone free. Regardless, this deserves a mega bladder buster drink and a bushel barrel of popcorn. Let all the CGI guys sweep you along.
Note: There were a jillion CGI artists in the closing credits AND do not leave until Deadpool says so.
