I watched The Room again because of the publicity covering "The Disaster Artist" - a film with James Franco and his usual crew - based on the Greg Sestero book about the making of The Room.
Yes, The Room is a horrible piece of movie while it's mysteriously and simultaneously captivating -but it could never be my favorite bad movie. It's too mean spirited. Ed Wood's films always had some element of love or reverence, The Room has neither.
Tommy Wiseau at best laughable and weird, but there is a egotistical misogyny buried under coats of narcism that I found distasteful and certainly not worthy of multiple viewings.
It's no "Hillbillies in a Haunted House" for sure.
