In short, season 2 is a continuation of season 1 so you need to watch season 1 to know what is going on in season 2. In season 2 the quirkiness quotient got amped up to a sometimes annoying degree. Like Wes Anderson, sometimes charming and funny can get just silly.
But in the end, I really like spending time in this world. The people are engaged in violence but they are all so nice. If they do a season 3, I'm in.
