I thought the acting was excellent and it was an "adult" heist film - it dealt with loss, relationships, and it was from a female perspective. I found that refreshing. That said - The writing was manic and inconsistent... There were questions unanswered that I found thought provoking - Was Harry the father of the baby?
And questions that were left unanswered that were lazy writing - Did Veronica hand $2,000,000 over to Jamal unscathed, with no questions asked, after his brother Jatemme was found dead? C'mon! That needed some follow through.
That said, the acting was terrific. Viola Davis, Colin Farrell, Daniel Kaluuya and Robert Duvall all gave great performances. Despite the films flaws, I enjoyed it.
By the way - the driving scene that was shot from an angle, showing the neighborhood change from the "have nots" to the "haves" - appeared to be shot in real time, with no visible cuts.
