There have been some studies the people are so depressed by their day to day lives is the fulfillment fantasy of some here coming in to save them is highly appealing.

It explains Trump
People want some savior because their life sucks.
That said I highly enjoyed Deadpool and Deadpool 2 probably because it makes fun of these movies and itself and they're both damn fun. And to me that's the point of going to these kinds of movies - they're supposed to be FUN.
And in almost all cases they aren't. Guardians tried but meh - and the DC films are generally a slog.
Wonder Woman - well 2 hours watching Gal Gadot is not too bad - not too bad at all.
But Black Panther - yawn.
