A crummy year, to say the least, for movie lovers. "Memento", "Our Lady of the Assassins", "The Others", and "Gosford Park" are the only very good movies of the past year that immediately occur to me. "A Beaufiful Mind"? C'mon. Car chases and shootouts in a movie about a mathematical genius? Good grief, if Mr. Howard decided to tackle the life of Einstein he'd probably find a way to weave in Nazi henchmen and Israeli secret service men to compensate for his inability to tell an interesting story.
"In the Bedroom." A primer on poor screen writing. And miscasting: neither lead (Spacek, Wilkinson) are known for their emotive abilities.
Nope, I'm afraid this was a great year for spending time with favorite videos from better, bygone years. Let's hope next year is better! Jayme
