So I'm probably one of the minority in that I've gone the the Cinerama Dome many times. It was getting really shabby, but was one of, if not THE biggest screens in So Cal. With so many theaters being chopped up or torn down to make megaplexes, it was on the engangered list.I am generally careful in what I go to see at theaters. If you want to see Star Wars (not episode 1, bleh!), Titanic, Gladiator, etc., you've got to see them on a BIG screen. And the Cinerama Dome was my favorite spot for such movies. Otherwise, I find my home theater more enjoyable, even though I only have a 50" RPTV, because I don't have to stand in lines, and I don't get bothered by people who bring their screaming brats (I have nothing against well behaved children, I'm talking about the kids who totally ruin the movie for others with their noise & antics).
Yes, $14 is more expensive than other venues. But, they provide free parking, which is can easily be $10 in Hollywood. That makes the movie actually LESS expensive than other theaters in the area; e.g., Manns Chinese. Plus, if my $$'s help support this great theater with its incredible history (was built to show Mad Mad Mad World and other Cinerama features), I'm more than ok with the cost.
As an additional plus, hopefully the higher cost will discourage people from bringing their misbehaving little ones. That by itself would justify the added costs for me.
