Use composite

Assuming your TV has a composite video input, use that. It will not be as good as S-Video, but it will work and your picture quality will certainly be drastically better than VHS. I use this type of connection for my DVD player in my secondary system. If your TV does not have at least a composite video input, I would suggest buying a new TV.
