I generally prefer coaxial digital-out to optical digital-out interconnection. Incidentally, I suppose that you will use no center speaker and will select "no center speaker" on your receiver. The receiver's center amp will clearly be inferior to the two in your Musical Fidelity XA-2 amplifier. The results will be much better with a high quality "ghost" center channel. I happen to like the DAC and preamps in the better Yamaha receivers, but the amplifiers are not special. You will have no power supply concern with any large HT receiver using the two, or even four, effects channels with the front three amplifiers idle. Beyond idle current, an amplifier requires from a power supply about 2.5 times the output power. Thus, should you ever run from all rear channels a total output of 150-watts (very doubtful), then your receiver need only be rated for a maximum power consumption of about 375-watts for the rear amps plus an allowance for the rest of the receiver. A total power consumption rating of 450-watts is certainly adequate for a HT receiver with the front three amps idle.
Ensure that you select a receiver having a phono amp and, if possible, Pro Logic 2 processing. Good luck.
