I would go with an Outlaw pre/processor. It is inexpensive and they tend to build good quality components.

To tell the turth, I find that most of the movies I like are not in 5.1 or if they are have so much dialogue that you end up listening only to the centre channel. In that case I tend to switch to stereo and it sounds better. My main speakers are well set up, so I have a good soundstage. In the end, I think surround is overblown and somewhat disappointing on all but action/adventure flicks.
