Point the gun at the record, holding it about 6-8" from the surface. Slowly pull the trigger and then slowly release the trigger. If you pull the trigger to fast, you will hear a click and feel a change in the resistance to your effort.The zerostat has a piezoelectric crystal that generates an electric charge when the crystal is bent. The charge ionizes air particles. No batteries or other source of power (other than your physical effort) is required. Touching the pointed needle while you pull the trigger will result in a very nasty surprise. If you're like most people, myself included, you will have to experience this for yourself out of curiosity. I understand that some people even try a taser on themselves for the same reason.
