I don't about processors, but you can get HT preamps easily for that price and far less which is what I do with the unity gain on my 2 channel preamp. My Marantz AV550 is not bad. It doesn't have DTS, but I don't really care. Setup is fairly easy and can be done with a TV. AC-3 is fine for DVDs. Sony came out with a model later that is supposed to be better, has DTS and more flexible bass managment, I think. I can't recall the model number, a 9 something. Also, the Sherwood Newcastle AVP-9080R was real hot some time ago.
