Too Digital...?

212.186.255.2

When using DVDs as a sorce, I experience anomalies in the picture. This is specially visible in the deep black area. I have tried to reduce the contrast and brightnes levels, but I am not pleased. I am using a Philips B420 plasma screen. This modell was delivered without a tuner but with RGH, composit and s-vhs. As of now I am using RGB between screen and player.

The screen is probably on of the first generations, but I think the quality of vhs and cabelboadcast is more pleasant for the eye. Is there anything I can do to get a better picture without the artifacts of the digital picture?
