Yes, these are old designs.
AFAIK the parent company, Harman International has stopped using the Citation name.I believe all these Citations (and the Harman Kardons that were also available) are factory refurbished units. I was told these all had minor problems hence the large number of refurb units. Never did find out the exact nature of the problems :(
I've used their surround sound preamps which are still great performers and IMO are still unmatched when it comes to analog surround decoding. No surprise when the chief designer was the surround sound guru, Jim Fosgate. However the price for this high performance is a less than friendly user interface and some operational quirks.
The Citation branded amps I have not used but I do have some experience with the similarly designed Harman Kardon Signature 2.1 5x100wpc amp.
A very impressive on-paper performance was not matched by the listening reality. Wimpy is the best description of it's sound.
